Freiwillige Institutionen zur Überwindung der Tragödie der Allmende im Lichte erweiterter begrenzter Rationalität?!

Z'GuG Zeitschrift für Gemeinwirtschaft und Gemeinwohl, 2022, vol. 45, issue 2, 377-396

Abstract: Many global problems are threatened by the tragedy of the commons. Solutions are urgently needed. Game-theoretical analysis shows how the rationality of homo economicus inevitably leads to disaster ("social dilemma"). Reason is missing, with a view to the common good and social adaptation, which is certainly demonstrable in homo sapiens. Therefore, models should consider under which conditions actors follow community rules. Corresponding modern institutions are characterized by considerably reduced reactance reactions. The use of Elinor Ostrom's institutional design principles can be very helpful. They can be combined with recent findings on the evolutionary development of the willingness to cooperate in order to change the behaviour of economically active actors in the sense of collective rationality in the long run.
