Abstract:
The Italian cooperatives have grown for over 150 years through eventful phases and are characterized by their survivability. Since 1945, the link between the cooperatives and the governing parties was strengthened, which saw the movement as indispensable for socio-economic reconstruction. Thanks to the legal framework and the pioneering spirit, the cooperatives spread throughout the country and penetrated all economic areas and social classes. A significant role was played by the central organizations (Federazioni), which promoted regional networking by industry.
