Abstract: Sustainability has become an important concept in the banking sector in recent years. Against this background, the paper deals with the integration of the idea of sustainability into the business model of a Catholic church bank - Pax-Bank eG. In doing so, the case study elaborates a historically conditioned signature of the business model, which is derived from the concepts of Catholic social teaching and cooperativism and which enables the bank to clearly position itself vis-à-vis the relevant topic of sustainability.
