Evolvement of ICT in Airline Distribution – Perspectives on Co-creation with IATA NDC and One Order

Abstract: The IATA distribution standard NDC and the fulfilment standard One Order could help airlines to facilitate co-creation in the airline industry. This paper sheds light on the pitfalls and hurdles that accompany this process making it an interesting learning case of technology disruption and technology adaption for all industries. Even though an open API structure is urgently needed to realize distributed and decentralized co-creation, a main challenge remains the need to organize the cutover from older systems to the next generation.
