Die Unternehmung - Swiss Journal of Business Research and Practice, 2021, vol. 75, issue 1, 96-116
Abstract:
This comparative case study compares how two Swiss destinations actively trigger engagement to engage their second-home owners. The study analyzes antecedents and consequences of supplier-induced engagement for a company-type and a community-type destination. The result identifies seven antecedents and seven consequences of engagement for the destination. The antecedents of supplier-induced engagement are involvement, commitment, appreciation, trust, hospitality, social change, and the market situation. The consequences of supplier-induced engagement are loyalty, sense of community/ownership, resonance, shared identity, attractiveness of the destination, monetary aspects, and awareness/word-of-mouth.
