Familiäre Risikogruppen im europäischen Vergleich

Thomas Bahle, Claudia Göbel and Vanessa Hubl

WSI-Mitteilungen, 2013, vol. 66, issue 3, 192-200

Abstract: The article analyses the employment and income situation of families in Germany, Denmark, France, Great Britain and the Netherlands. The focus is on those groups at risk: couples and single parents that are not or only partially employed or have low earnings. The incidence of these families varies significantly across countries and their income situation and poverty risk is different as well, which is due to institutional differences, e.g. in terms of the tax burden for those with a low income, the generosity of family benefits or the supply of child care services. In an international comparison Germany comes off badly: it is especially single parents and the unemployed, as well as low-income earners who are heavily disadvantaged.
