Sozialpartnerschaft bei Arbeitgeberverbänden: „Schnee von gestern“ oder vor der Renaissance?

Abstract:
This paper conceives of social partnerships as an instrumental-pragmatic orientation of employer associations. This orientation serves as a "continuity enhancing mechanism" for German collective bargaining institutions. Based on the quantitative finding that among employer associations social partnership orientations gained ground between 2005/6 and 2012, a qualitative study of traditional industries (chemical, metal, construction industry) and new industries (industrial services, agency work) examines to what extent employer associations act as ideational brokers for social partnership. The 21 interviews with the executive managers of associations and union representatives reveal that there are sub-types of social partnership and that only fragments of the genuine type can be found in new industries.
