WSI-Mitteilungen, 2013, vol. 66, issue 7, 510-518
Abstract:
The system of employment relations in Germany rests on the existence of representative employee and employers’ associations. In comparison with other European countries, representativeness of German employers’ associations is (still) above average. The aim of this paper is an investigation of why and how German employers’ associations differ from other countries. The results show that the representativeness of German employers’ associations is heavily dependent upon its ability to influence government decision via the involvement in socio-economic policy making.
