WSI-Mitteilungen, 2014, vol. 67, issue 8, 628-638
Abstract:
The article analyses various forms of atypical employment. Its focus is not, as usual, on private industry but, for the first time, on the public sector. The first part describes various forms of atypical work, including the long-term development, the present extent as well as structural characteristics – focusing, especially on part-time, limited contracts, mini-jobs and temporary agency work. The second part introduces various indicators in order to answer the question of whether atypical forms of work are necessarily the same as precarious forms. The article reveals convergent as well as divergent trends in private industry and the public sector.
