Europäische Politiken zur Gleichstellung – nur noch schöne Worte?

WSI-Mitteilungen, 2015, vol. 68, issue 1, 5-12
Abstract:
European gender equality policy is in a period of crisis: It has been evident, not only since the economic crisis beginning in 2009, that gender equality policies in the EU are hardly discernible. At the beginning of the century EU policies had far reaching targets; today they are not developing any initiatives against growing levels of poverty and exclusion in many member states. The article investigates how EU equality policies have been developed over the past thirty years, whether regulatory progress has been made, and how the observed reversal has come about. If things stay as they are, the achievement of equality will soon be out of sight. For this reason a new European gender equality movement is required.
