Abstract:
Women make up 95% of all employees in the social and educational services, and predominantly – at almost 60% - they are employed on a part time basis. This employment sector provides important care and educational services in day nurseries, the social services and in care for the disabled, thereby securing a basis of care for the development of our children and in addition providing support for those in difficult life circumstances. Now, in 2015, after 25 years of professional advancement and ongoing job evaluation, ver.di has started a bargaining round in the campaign for a revaluation of this employment. It is of fundamental social significance. This article provides an overview of the background and experiences in the sector.
