Abstract:
Lack of skilled workers, low wages, tough working conditions and overwork are frequently the central themes of debates focusing on social services. At the same time there is agreement that image and a culture of recognition have an important role to play. This article addresses these points and underlines the fact that social services enable secure, sustainable employment which is also independent of economic conditions – also in the changing world of digitalisation. The social sector can develop employment policy effects if the appropriate framework conditions are created.
