Abstract: In recent times there has been discussion of a paradigmatic shift in economics towards a more transformative approach which analyses and potentially improves conditions for a sustainable development of economic activity and society. We argue that this debate should take place with regard to the transformative effect of particular disciplines in the field. This article explores the question which impulses the inquiry into a specific business administration for cooperatives can produce for the debate on transformative economics.
