Abstract: The entrepreneurial challenges facing cooperative primary banks have increased considerably in recent years. Against this background, an intensified concentration process has been observed at the cooperative primary bank level for some time. A significant influence on the success or failure of mergers is attributed to the corporate culture. In order to investigate the interaction between corporate culture and the merger process, a survey was carried out in 2002, which serves as the basis for the analyses presented here. Through an explorative procedure using non-linear principal component analyses, both an analysis of the contents of the survey and the correlative relationships of the items surveyed and an examination of the quality and suitability of the questionnaire could be carried out.
