Abstract:
What do we know about the effects of the digital transformation in our society on the future of the health-oriented social self help movement? To find pathways of answers it is important to use a multiple-level-analysis approach, differentiating a) the macro level of self help organization, b) the meso level of local/regional structures of promoting self help activities and c) the most important micro level of the mutual aid groups. The expectations resulting from analysis and reflections are characterized by deep ambivalences. The digital transformation in a total perspective may be under impact of the janus head. But perhaps there will some positive outcome of digital processes on the attraction of younger generation participating in the social self help movement. Perhaps it will have a positive effect on prevention the stagnation or decline of the dynamics of mutual aid groups on the local level.
