Abstract: This paper is dedicated to the problems of innovation economy and considers the topic from three points of view: science, state regulation, and innovation business. The author discusses theoretical aspects of the economic role played by innovations and problems of putting them to work, as well as economic policy issues. A number of government policies and the discussion of economic efficiency of development institutions are included in the analysis. The article also considers the innovation business from its origins.
