Abstract: This paper analyzes some variables connected to the recent performance of the Brazilian economy in order to assess whether, under this conjunctional analyses, it can be detected that the country returned to a new matrix of developmentalist policies. An analysis is examined regarding the recent performance of the economy and the contextualization of the mentioned debate. Next, a comparison is made between the Lula administration and the structural features of the historical experience of the Brazilian economy during the period referred to in the literature as "the developmentalism era". This era comprehended five decades as of 1930, which presented an elevated growth and a modernization of the country.
