Abstract: The paper quantifies industrial coagglomeration between pairs of sectors in the manufacturing industry in the state of Rio de Janeiro in 2010. In order todo so, it considers the co-agglomeration index of Ellison et al. (2010) and tries to relateit with indicators that approximate labor pooling, proximity to customers and suppliers, and natural advantages. Some similarities with previous evidence have been observed for the U.S., as well as important contrasts. The exploratory econometric evidence seems to indicate a stronger role for variables approximating labor pooling and input utilization intensity
