Abstract:
The main aim of this paper is to analyze the probability of busy individuals having greater or lesser costs of accessibility when commuting from their residence to their place of work. The global analysis will be based on individual, family and local characteristics. To do so, the cost of accessibility was defined as the average time from home to work (available in the PNAD) and this variable is estimated by the maximum likelihood using the Generalized Ordered Logit Model (GOLM). The main results show that: (a) households without children promote a negative effect on the probability of the cost of accessibility; (b) increasing age decreases the chances of individuals having a higher cost of accessibility; and (c) when individuals receive transport help, their chances of spending up to 30 minutes, from their residence to the workplace, increase.
