Abstract:
This paper reports the key developments in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) in its early years and those that have occurred in the following three decades. It also outlines some of the basic objectives that led to the early developments in DEA and describes related activities that need to continue to guide and motivate further developments. The paper concludes with a discussion of the importance of problem driven research in DEA.
