Nonprofit Organizations, Social Benefits, and Tax Policy
Dennis Zimmerman
National Tax Journal, 1991, vol. 44, issue 3, 341-49
Abstract:
Suggests that the market conditions that produce nonprofit firms are no guarantee that social benefits are produced by nonprofit firms. Discusses a selection of some of the available empirical information that documents some nonprofit failure and abuse as well as proposed legislation that attempts to require an increase in the social benefits component of nonprofit hospitals.
