Abstract: The economies of the Balkan countries have taken different paths of development over the last years. Kosovo experienced dramatic changes: from nationalization and centrally-planned economic development to market economy. The transition process began with a largely obsolete industrial base and a pattern of output unsuited to the country’s needs, on one hand, and economic recovery after the war, on the other hand. Over the past twenty years, the country has carried out significant structural changes and enjoys economic stability.
