Abstract:
The concept of “creative citiå” has become popular among people who are concerned with the future of cities. Creativity, creative industries and cultural resources are increasingly seen as a remedy for urban development in the postindustrial economy. The importance of the city has been increasing and if until recently, companies competed to recruit talented people to create innovations, after the information age, the significance of the workplace has been decreasing at the expense of the place for living. The concept was best developed and popularized by Charles Landry and Richard Florida. The objective of this article was to present the concept of the creative city growth with its importance for the creative class, which has become a key driving resource in modern economy. A comparative analysis of the different concepts of creative city with Richard Florida’s creative class theory was made.
