Abstract: This article examines the concept of social vulnerability and mechanisms for supporting vulnerable social groups within the European Union (EU). It analyzes existing EU legal and socio-political frameworks, as well as approaches for identifying and protecting these groups. The paper highlights both the strengths and limitations of categorical and contextual approaches to identifying vulnerability, emphasizing the importance of an integrated approach for their more effective implementation.
