Abstract:
Virtual (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are considered as powerful tools for innovation in the tourism sector. They create unique experiences for users and transform the way tourists interact with destinations and tourist attractions. This report aims to explore the role of VR and AR in tourism development by looking at their main applications, from virtual tours of tourist sites to interactive on-site AR experiences. Challenges related to the implementation of these technologies are analyzed, such as high costs, required infrastructure and resistance to change. The paper presents successful examples, future trends and opportunities for implementation of VR and AR in tourism. The main focus of the publication is on how these technologies are changing consumer attitudes and offering new marketing approaches for tourism businesses and destinations in Bulgaria and abroad.
