The material requirements planning system for readymade garments and inventory control

Abstract: Material Requirement Planning (MRP) is a technique which assists a company in the detail planning for its production. Many large and small businesses adopt MRP system, a well known technique, in order to increase the productivity and decrease the lead time of materials as well as their production cost. Researchers have identified that how the MRP has been ap-plied in different sectors and how these sectors could receive benefits. This paper, based on the secondary data, demonstrates the MRP system of garments manufacturing process through the inventory control with a case study on woven apparels. This study also highlights the latest time for the final product that order can be started and still be ready to ship in timely manner.
