Abstract: The aim of the article is to outline the situation on the market of equity release in Poland. It focuses on solutions used by special institutions in a sales model, called mortgage funds, the basic activity of which assumes signing release plan contracts in exchange for life income, and points to the dangers connected with their functioning. It also focuses on projected solutions in a loan model of equity release. This issue is particularly important as the ageing process of our society and lowering level of pension benefits provided by the State are among the main factors determining the development of this market, which undoubtedly will take place in Poland, as in other countries.
