Abstract: This report presents results from the third wave of the Eurosystem Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS) for Austria. The report focuses on the wealth components of the household balance sheet but we also discuss the main findings of the survey in terms of balance sheet robustness. We analyze the pattern of findings that are in line with international results as well as peculiar but stable findings which specifically apply to Austrian households. As the joint distribution of income, consumption and wealth is of particular interest for many international institutions we match the HFCS data with European Union Statistics of Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) and with Household Budget Survey (HBS) data.
