Abstract:
The paper aims to make a comparative study between the urban and the rural economy. We started from defining and typifying the urban and rural environment, identifying the differences between them and the impact of these differences on economic development. I listed after that the main determinants of the urban and rural economy, but also the interdependencies between the two types of economy. The conclusions show considerable changes in the urban and rural economy in relation to the traditional perspective, in the sense that the rural environment tends to be more urban, especially in terms of quality of life, and rural-urban interdependencies are becoming stronger.
