Foreign Direct Investment in Canada

Abstract: This article analyzes foreign direct investment in Canada. In 2009, Canadian direct investment in the United States was down sharply, generating a net liability position. Direct investment in other countries also declined, but the overall net asset position was sustained. The value of Canada's direct investment abroad declined by 7.5 percent in 2009.
