Abstract:
This study describes the methods of predicting light pipe performances using scale models under the tropical Malaysian sky conditions. The conversion factor is introduced as an indication of the reliability of the methodology employed in predicting the light pipe performance. Illumination ratios were analysed and empirical model equations were developed from simultaneous measurements of interior and external illuminances. The model equations derived from this study could hopefully be adopted for other types of light pipe materials or other applications related to light pipe technologies.
