Review of Agricultural Economics, 1991, vol. 13, issue 2, 299-317
Abstract:
Agricultural finance research conducted during the 1985–90 period under research project NC-161, "Financing Agricultural in a Changing Environment: Macro, Market, Policy and Management Issues," is summarized. This research advanced the knowledge base at the farm, institutional, and policy levels relative to the financing of agriculture during times of economic stress and rapid institutional change. Advances were particularly significant in the ares of loan policies for troubled borrowers, merger of financial institutions, resolution of high loss portfolios, credit scoring and evaluation, evaluation of state and federal credit programs, optimal investment strategies for farmers, and the value of fixed-rate loans to farm businesses.
