Analysis of citations in post-graduate engineering theses submitted to South Indian universities

Research Evaluation, 1992, vol. 2, issue 3, 151-153

Abstract: This study showed that most citations in postgraduate engineering theses submitted to South Indian universities were to journals, reference books and text books. There appears to be a lack of awareness of primary, secondary and tertiary information sources. In general, it seems to be a ‘ritual’ to add a bibliography without any clear indication of the relevance of the references to the material of the thesis. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
