Abstract:
The irregularity of development in Ukraine of various biological fields of science is investigated, based on citation and productivity counts of Ukrainian scientists in the Science Citation Index. There is wide discrepancy in the indicators between the experimental domains of biology and the more descriptive areas: the former apparently produces more papers which are more highly cited. There is evidence that some achievements in the life sciences depend on a considerable amount of scientific communication between Ukrainian and foreign scholars. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
