Abstract:
In this paper the results of a bibliometric study of neural network research are presented. This evaluative study includes bibliometric mapping and actor analysis of main players in the field on a macro level (countries, in particular Germany), and, on a lower level, of the main players in Germany. We found that Germany is among the leading countries in the field. This study, together with Noyons and van Raan (1997), is also a blueprint for evaluative bibliometric studies of emerging or strongly developing science and technology fields. The monitoring of major developments in the field, and a detailed actor analysis were integrated into one study. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
