Policy R&D: Toward a better bridge between knowledge and decision making
Jaro Mayda
Science and Public Policy, 1999, vol. 26, issue 6, 395-402
Abstract:
A review of publications and practice, and scientific-professional culture and semantics, especially in the field of global environmental change, shows that the existing methods and lexicon of ‘policymaking’ are not providing an adequate bridge between problems, data and decision making. A paradigm styled ‘policy R&D,’ which may span better the scientific-technical and the decision making aspects, is outlined. This new social technology needs further development within policy- and decision-oriented scientific endeavors. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
