Abstract:
Abstract Active management success depends on large-cap relative performance and market volatility. The magnitude and direction of market volatility are pivotal in the active-passive debate. Increasing market volatility amplifies the small-cap penalty, whereas decreasing volatility enhances stock selection opportunities.
