Abstract: Tarek Mahmud Hussain examines the change in women's status with greater access to education and credit resources through NGOs, using data from the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey conducted in 1993 by Mitra and Associates (Mitra et al., 1994) with 7564 rural Bangladeshi women. The study highlights the very important link between women's access to education and reproductive choice as well as the dialogue they have with their husbands and their authority over household expenditure.
