Domestic Violence Strategies and Actions in Suriname

Abstract: Carla Bakboord argues that domestic violence is now almost unanimously considered to be a crime in the Caribbean and is a priority on the agenda of governments and non-governmental organizations. In some countries there is a lack of legislation, lack of government policy towards this problem, great inequality within gender relations and a lack of knowledge and skills among stakeholders and beneficiaries and inadequate support systems to address these problems.
