Abstract: Sangeeta Kamat focuses on the experience of community-based NGOs, also known as CBOs or grassroots organizations, to elaborate on the political culture engendered by NGOs in the global economy. This article draws upon her work on CBOs in India, recently published as a book, as well as her forthcoming work on the regulation of NGOs in the neo-liberal policy context.
