Abstract:
The birth of President Suharto's authoritarian ‘New Order’ regime, between 1965 and 1967, was steeped in blood. Sexual politics played a major role in this process. Nursyahbani Katjasungkana and Saskia E. Wieringa analyse the consequences of this transition for the struggle for women's reproductive rights. They also discuss the ramifications of the fall of the regime in 1998. Development (2003) 46, 63–67. doi:10.1057/palgrave.development.1110448
