Abstract:
Marco Zupi examines the importance of emigrants' remittances as a financial resource for economic development. He investigates their positive and negative impact on local development, the role of migrants as agents for development, the benefits of community remittances and ways of providing incentives for the productive use of remittances. His analysis provides an agenda for research and Italian development cooperation policy, based on some case studies and experiences. Development (2003) 46, 107–112. doi:10.1177/10116370030463017
