Development, 2003, vol. 46, issue 4, 79-84

Abstract: Socorro Martínez, who has worked with poor women most of her life, argues that they have the capabilities to contribute to and lead social change, if they are given the space and opportunity. She suggests that through education, networking and skills building Christian Base Communities (CBCs) provide such an opportunity for many poor women in Mexico today.
