On Civil Governance
Simon Zadek
Development, 2004, vol. 47, issue 3, 20-28
Abstract:
IN HIS DISCUSSION OF HOW CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY WILL IMPACT ON TOMORROW'S GLOBAL MARKETS, SIMON ZADEK ARGUES THAT CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY NEEDS TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE TO THE LIVES OF POOR PEOPLE AND THE SECURITY OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. HE OUTLINES TWO SCENARIOS FOR THE YEAR 2020. THE FIRST SCENARIO, GREY DAWN, IS BROADLY NEGATIVE AND UNDESIRABLE, WHILE THE SECOND, CIVIL GOVERNANCE, PRESENTS POSITIVELY HOW CIVIL SOCIETY AND BUSINESS RELATIONS WITH THE UN COULD EVOLVE IN THE FUTURE:.
