The Multi-D-Dimensions of Poverty: Some conceptual and policy challenges

Marco Zupi

Development, 2007, vol. 50, issue 2, 31-41

Abstract: Marco Zupi argues that we are facing a new challenge in terms of poverty given both the mix of traditional and new forms of poverty. He defines various approaches to poverty and poverty measurement, and argues that poverty reduction should tackle the question of the nation-driven nature of ODA as the main approach. Instead, we need to recognize the potential role of a real bottom-up process, focused on the poors' capabilities and based on the specific local contexts and actors as the leading factors for attacking poverty.
