Southern Feminist Movement Building: A matter of difference, equality and transformative leadership

Tesa Casal De Vela and Mira Alexis P Ofreneo

Development, 2009, vol. 52, issue 2, 144-149

Abstract: Tesa Casal de Vela and Mira Alexis P. Ofreneo offer their thoughts on ‘Critical Collaborations: Confronting the realities of the south’ based on the panel organized by Isis International, Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN) and the Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) for the 11th AWID Forum on the Power of Movements. They discuss the different generational contexts and differing levels of involvement as feminist activists in the South bringing out two thematic areas. The first is the feminist continuum of difference and disparity and the second on ‘leadership tensions’. Development (2009) 52, 144–149. doi:10.1057/dev.2009.5
