Abstract:
Kappadath Parameswara Menon Kannan discusses two recent initiatives for providing social security to Indian workers in the informal economy. He looks at the National Rural Employment Guarantee and the Social Security for Unorganized (Informal) Workers as landmark initiatives that indicate an important turnaround in the emerging developmental policy in the country.
