Development, 2010, vol. 53, issue 4, 486-490
Abstract:
Juma V. Mwapachu examines the future of the university in Tanzania. He looks at the national, social and economic challenges that confront the African nation-state and of the role of the African university given today's complex and dynamic global economic and technology-driven environment. Mwapachu proposes that the university should strategically re-position itself in response to the demands of the new economy and the challenges of development as set out in the Millennium Development Goals.
