Sustainable Development: The citizen's predicament

Abstract: Shobha Raghuram is a development writer. She is trained in philosophy and applied development studies. She did her post-doctoral research in philosophy and epistemology at the University of Sorbonne, Paris and subsequently worked at the Centre for the Study of Development Studies, Delhi on sociology of science before joining Hivos Regional office, India. She was director between 2002 and 2007. She has returned to full time research apart from being a development consultant. She has been advisor to WHO and UNDP, and visiting senior fellow at the Centre for Population and Development Studies, Harvard University. She serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Development, the Advisory Council of the Sustainable Futures Academy, Salzburg apart from many other public interest bodies. She is currently working on her book, Rethinking Development: The Politics of Social Change.
