The Buddha’s Middle Path: Lessons for sustainability and global well-being

Asoka Bandarage

Development, 2013, vol. 56, issue 2, 232-240

Abstract: Growing economic inequality and maldistribution of resources and opportunities is the fundamental social issue of our time. The roots of the current crisis can be located in unbridled economic growth and the twin forces of capital and technology. As such, an effective response requires a combination of critical social science analysis and a universal spiritual approach to ecological sustainability and social development. This article draws lessons from the Buddha’s Middle Path.
